When I was a teenager, I actually thought maybe I was an actual alien. :)

I don't even admit to people that I am "from" Philadelphia (the suburbs, specifically). I grew up only 80 miles away from here, but upon crossing the Delaware, I *did* end up on a different planet.
Where I'm *from* and where I *live* are two different things! In this area, I don't quite...fit in.

I'll go to work at 6 am and see the the crows poking aroud on the black top or cawing to eachother in the trees and think how interesting they're behavior is. And I always woner how many people on this earth know that crows are intelligent creatures. I think most of the time people don't even notice that a crow exists because they are so consumed in human selfishness and desires. So what you say is not retarded because I often relate myself to a crow. Just this smart girl who no one really notices.
